The Initial Visit

Initial visits are 2 hours long. A detailed health history will be taken and in cases related to pain or injury an ortho/neuro evaluation will be performed. During your first exam, I will spend time getting to know you and your health concerns.

Depending on what you are going to be treated for you will be asked a wide range of questions about your health including but not limited to;

  • Symptoms of your chief complaint
  • Your emotional state of mind over the past 3 months or more
  • Memory and ability to focus
  • Immune system
  • Your sleep
  • Energy level & physical strength
  • Whether or not you have chronic pain and if so the details
  • Whether or not you have re-occurring headaches or migraines
  • Skin condition
  • Your appetite and digestion
  • Ears, eyes, nose and throat conditions
  • Any other aspects of your body’s functions that offer insight into your health

I will also employ other diagnostic methods that are unique to Chinese Medicine in order to make a complete Chinese medical diagnosis. If you are coming to me for pain from an injury or overuse an appropriate ortho/neuro physical exam is conducted.

How You Should Prepare

  • Write down and bring any questions you have. I am here to help you.
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing for easy access to acupuncture points. Loose shorts and a short sleeved shirt or tank top are best.
  • Do not eat large meals just before or after your visit.
  • Between visits, take mental notes of any changes that may have occurred, such as the alleviation of pain, pain moving to other areas, or improvements/changes in the frequency and type of physical or mental/emotional conditions.
