Mindful Meditation helps decrease anxiety, worry, obsessive thoughts, depression and our emotional response to physical pain. Practicing mindfulness and meditation daily causes us to be more aware in the present moment. Mindfulness and meditation helps us reduce the amount of time spent thinking about things that have already happened or that might happen in the future. It also contributes to restoring the healthy immune and repair processes in our bodies and contributes to a general feeling of peace and well-being.
According to a recent American Psychological Association study; One third of Americans admit to being overwhelmed by work-related stress. Other studies indicate if you work in a highly stressful environment, then you are more likely to suffer from chronic pain, various syndromes and system dysfunctions as well as several mental health issues.
It is not just the overload and long hours related to work that affect us. It’s also our personal thoughts and emotions that distract us and threaten our mental and physical health. Stress, anxiety, worry, depression, obsessive thinking, irritability and chronic pain reduce our focus and our abilities to enjoy the present moment with our families, friends and co-workers.
